Acer rubra - Red Maple flowering . .

These 2 photos were taken one week apart - I just love the simplicity and beautiful shape of first the tight buds, then the soft coloured stamens waving in the breeze - nature at its best ..
Spring is so full of anticipation - where ever I walk in the Gardens there is a tree or plants ready to burst into flower some are already just magnificent, especially the magnolias - they deserve a post of their own !!

Ngaio, I just had to smile when I saw this post. If you get a chance, take a look at my March 23 post. Seems we love the same things in nature. My red maple is now beginning to show signs of fall color.

I had a chance to speak to a community group earlier this summer and while the topic was beginning gardening, the conversation eventually turned to bees. There were 2 children in the group, aged 10 and 14, and they were highly inquisitive and asked wonderful questions about beekeeping. I hope to do my part to instill a love of beekeeping in the younger generation. By the time my granddaughter was 18 months old (she is now 2) she would point to an observation hive, say bees and buzz noisily!
